Washington, D.C., often referred to “Chocolate City,” has long been defined by its vibrant Black culture and history. However, rapid gentrification is reshaping the city, displacing the thousands of long-time residents and eroding its cultural identity. This short documentary gives a platform to those affected, sharing intimate stories highlighting the human impact of displacement. Through personal interviews and community narratives, the film aims to preserve the legacy of “Chocolate City” and its historical culture while calling for urgent action to protect its cultural and social fabric.
